On this day sixty years ago my grandparents were married. Yep, 60. 6-0. Incredible. Not only were they married for six decades, they lived a love story. A real one. Fairytale-esque. Squabbles? Sure. Disagreements? Absolutely. I'm exaggerating? No. I remember Grandma and Grandpa being asked by the D.J. at my cousin's wedding reception what the key to being married more than 50 years was. I remember my Grandma answering into the mic something completely proper and socially acceptable like"Communicate and stay friends..." My grandma then walked up to my cousin and said, "...and keep things exciting in the bedroom!" Grandma! Whoa! The truth is that their model of unconditional love, acceptance, passion and support has had a profound impact on myself and my marriage. My gratitude, immeasurable. My wish, a love like their's for all.
